American Electric Power Foundation, at the request of Southwestern Electric Power (SWEPCO) awarded $50,000 to help launch the Washington Leadership Academy. The parent organization, I Am A Hero, Inc., will oversee the implementation of the award.
This weekend, unstable air across SWEPCO’s service territory from north Arkansas and south to Texarkana, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana brought extreme storms to the area and disrupted power to customers.

A memorandum of understanding signed today will officially launch a Louisiana-based certificate program to help the next generation of lineworkers through educational opportunities and a newly developed career training program.
