Bryan Blanton

Director, Distribution Region Operations

Bryan Blanton, director of Distribution Region Operations, leads a team that oversees the construction, operation, maintenance and emergency restoration for SWEPCO’s Distribution system and team members located at the Distribution Dispatch Center to provide safe, timely and reliable service to customers.

His role involves ensuring Distribution assets are planned and operated in compliance with all applicable safety and reliability standards, contractual and tariff obligations, and all federal, state, and local regulations and laws. He also is responsible for the coordination of contractors and administration of resource planning/work scheduling, risk identification/mitigation, business continuity planning, and crisis management.

Blanton began his SWEPCO career in 2002 as a journey lineman in Henderson, Texas. In 2006, he was promoted to Troubleman and soon after advanced to serve as system distribution supervisor in Longview, Texas.

Blanton served a crucial role on the LEAN strike team from 2014-2016. He also led the first management team as the ICS Incident Commander in Puerto Rico during restoration efforts caused by Hurricane Maria. In 2015, he was promoted to manager of distribution systems for the Longview District and since 2023 he has operated as the SWEPCO region support manager.

A native of Henderson, Texas, he is married to Amy, his wife of 26 years. They have 2 sons and 2 grandsons. In his spare time, Blanton enjoys team roping with his family and playing drums and guitar.
