Heat pump water heaters, also commonly referred to as hybrid electric water heaters, use advanced technology to get the job done. Instead of using energy to create heat, heat pump water heaters use electricity to move heat by extracting heat from the surrounding air to heat the water in the tank. When shopping for a heat pump water heater, choosing ENERGY STAR certified models can save you money now-with the available rebate-and later, thanks to their improved energy efficiency. Here is a list of ENERGY STAR certified heat pump water heaters.

Why Purchase an ENERGY STAR Certified Heat Pump Water Heater?

  • Save energy. Heat pump water heaters make the same amount of hot water using 70% less electricity compared to a standard electric water heater.
  • Save money. A household of four can save $350 annually on energy costs—and up to $3,750 over the heat pump water heater’s lifetime.*
  • A smart investment. While a heat pump water heater will typically cost more upfront, they quickly pay for themselves with energy savings, rebates and tax incentives.
